study the theme of danger for Progress in Vol de Nuit by Antoine de Saint-Exupery for third grade study of

Theme: The novel Night Flight Antoine de Saint Exupery man must put his life in danger in the service of progress. Argue your ideas with examples drawn from the novel.

Introduction

The novel Night Flight was written in a particular context: that of competition between the means of transport. To avoid being taken over by the car as the train, River, the head of initiates airmail flight at night with all the risks that entails. This situation reduces to the following questions.
After a brief history, we will analyze the obstacles that stood before the pilots then will show the professionalism that the airmen.

I. History

is the story of what happened one night on the air network in South America at a time not specified, but we can locate about 1930, where night flights fell almost still in the realm of adventure and where the drivers were true martyrs. Enormous dangers they faced and took a lot of risk. Andre Gide said on this subject that "it is for aviation as with any exploration of unknown lands a heroic period."

II. Barriers Air

1. The barriers

The aircraft is designed as a means of moving air reduces the universe of man in a mass of scrap in the open air away from its outside world. The pilot, within its control device which he seems to be master, for a fixed landing which is not always on call. The aircraft is sometimes beyond the control of the driver due to storm storm, hurricane. The pilot is not as immune to an engine malfunction, a broken wing facing a storm or a storm, and equally immune to zero visibility can create a disaster and even death of the pilot. So it is with Fabien. This
counterpart in Night Flight , Saint Exupery tells us that the risk drivers are many. And socially as the author writes: "The general interest premium to the detriment of particular interest," the pilot during a mission highlight the personal anguish and family same level in each of their flight. What constitutes a major risk to the psychological and family because the family is never safe return of their husbands in homes. In addition to these drivers face the education of their children appear to be absentee parents hence the lack of affection of children vis-à-vis their parents.

III. The professionalism of the pilots

1. The pilots will

Faced with the many dangers faced by drivers are therefore grounds for asserting that the pilots may at any time their lives. So they had an extraordinary commitment and courage. The pilots did lacking. Their leader, too, for not resting River (p.28). And responsibility for their tools and their own lives was enough to push them to excel so that pilots face of danger, are almost "Without having to fight, they shook hands on the controls ( p.36). The narrator even adds: "The cyclone is nothing" (p.37). However it is the chief river that inspired them this desire: "The man was for him a blank slate that he had kneaded. He had to give a soul to this matter, it will create (...) it created this desire. Thus, despite all these dangers, These drivers enjoy their work. "These men are happy because they love what they do and they love it because I'm tough." (P.47)

2. The expertise of the pilots

We just show that pilots love their job, but mostly because they are working even if River was never quiet during a night flight. Fabian in his cab was not only "very comfortable" (p.22), but he skillfully manipulated the tools of work, reflected in the action verbs: "He patted the electrical switchboard, touched contacts a to move a little, leaned more and sought the best position to better feel the swaying of the five tons of metal that night moving shoulders "(p.22). In addition, for comparison, we see that Pellerin fate of his journey through his experience, and he speaks "of his flight as a forge of his bum" (p.42). Besides the control of the work is confirmed by the Inspector Robineau that feels less important than the drivers. Yet, faced with extreme danger, the pilot could only surrender to chance. The conclusion to be drawn from Night Flight is positive in that, despite the death of Fabian, the work contained as "a victory weakens a people, a defeat in another alarm."

3. Drivers for Progress

pilots were true messengers since at the cost of their lives that they undertake this profession full of risk because the danger is often composed of unknown or unexpected obstacles. But the service's success airmail, and the name of progress of aviation and therefore of all humanity, they must complete their mission but perilous. So they give up "what makes life sweet" for the happiness of families waiting for the letters in their possession. That why the narrator notes that "a man was working somewhere that life is continuous, so that ... ever, from Toulouse to Buenos Aires, do not break the chain." (p. 77)
Thus each pilot is responsible for him himself and his tool. Responsible also for men (and women comrades). Also Fabien "held in his hands the beating heart of his friend and his own" (p. 138).
In of Terre des hommes even Antoine de Saint-Exupery, the hero Guillaumet was "responsible for it, and mail comrades who hope (...) a little responsible for the fate of men, to the extent of his work. "

Conclusion

Night Flight can be considered the novel that teaches the responsibility of the head and the subjects that are each in what concerns to play its full role in helping achieve the goals. All this requires the sacrifice and the spirit of tolerance. Is that these illustrious pilgrims civil aviation know why they are there and working to ensure that life continues, so that happiness and peace remains blessed. These pilots reach and, through their heroic deeds, immortality. River will survive by its action.

a theme: Victory and / or defeat in Night Flight

Study theme "A victory weakens a people, a defeat in another wake up," says Antoine de Saint Exupery. From reading Night Flight, you will show the correctness of this thought.

Introduction

The problem is at the end of Night Flight . It should be noted that these are mostly words that precede this statement: "... victory ... defeat, these words have no meaning. Life is below these images and images already preparing new "page 187. From then we can think the issue is resolved is whether the action - And its result - now has a meaning without its becoming. In other words, that victory or defeat ultimately strengthens a people.
One wonders then how is perceived victory through Night Flight, but also why the narrator, especially after the tragic death of Fabio, paradoxically asserts that defeat a wake up people.

I. Understanding the victory

1. The victory is little

Night Flight deals victory so amazing because it is often trivialized, ephemeral. Indeed in the letter Saint-Exupery Andre Gide quoted by the preface reads, "I just passed a small feat." To say the low value that the author himself gives the victory. Therefore he adds: "Never more I admired a man who would only be brave. "
The victory in this novel is, apparently he never learned. And perhaps it is there that the nobility and grandeur of the pilots. Thus the narrator argues that when Fabian "wins the lights," he has "the feeling of defeat" (p. 23), but in reality it does not conquer. This impression came also the pilot who thought Pellerin be "well earned" his comrades (p. 34).

2. Lose a battle, not war

If arrival is seen as a victory, River believes that "the arrival of the aircraft would never be the victory that ended a war" (p. 28). But war against whom, against what? Otherwise against bad weather: thunderstorms, storms, hurricane, night, short against nature or death. Yet when
River welcomes Pellerin and "How did you manage? "(P. 42), it almost apologetic, because for him, this victory may mean little to him even if he tells how he obtained the obstacles of the sky, on pages 42 and 43.
By cons, in Fabian, the victory was fleeting, and we lost almost immediately after, we won!
Marches, risers, won territories which should be made "(p. 69)

II. The sense of defeat in Night Flight

1. What defeat?

In Night Flight, the victory is most responsible for the River is to be able to defeat the fear that is in itself. So he told his driver twice "I saved him from fear" (p. 102 and p. 103). Besides the man must have faith, commitment and courage, because the battle has begun, against death. So the man must be motivated by the desire to win, that desire can be effective only when we had a defeat. That's why the narrator says that a defeat a wake up people. And before the arrival of sudden death, that of Fabian, River exclaims, "Death, voila! . But this defeat quotes Fabien is synonymous with victory in that only "action delivers from death" (p. 164) since, by its action, the pilot becomes eternal, lasting.

2. The victory is the loser wins

We retain therefore that in this work, the defeat is not dying, but rather give up. To cite a defeat, it has the half-turn of a pilot who is afraid of bad weather, on page 101. Nevertheless, there are times when the will and courage to be disarmed and that only luck can save the driver. So is it that Fabian "Calculate its opportunities" (p. 110) but who played who loses wins, because even eternal death Fabien remained by his action and the drama did not stop the planes flying. The phrase that summarizes the strength of defeat is probably what justifies the subject are: "The failures strengthen the strong" (p. 119).

Conclusion

It was, as we have seen, always about greatness, nobility, courage in the novel. It is true that victory or defeat n'on not make sense, but rather the feeling that one has to perform the action that makes the victory or defeat. So the death of Fabian, which has not stopped the march of the other planes can not, from River, constitute a positive defeat. Besides the novel ends with a chant organ that goes, a hymn to the glory of the hero and Night Flight ends with the word "Victory."
"River - The big river - the victorious, bringing his heavy victory" (p. 188).

NIGHT FLIGHT

I. Summary of the work

II. Study of characters

III. Story structure

The organization guides the story chapters to a rather complex structure: the moments of history can be double or even triple. However, we can isolate the main unit highlighted by the title - that is to say the flight that night - and find a simple and linear.
Briefly summarize the structure as well: the text begins with a unit (an aircraft in operation), then this unit explodes into three units (three aircraft), independent of each other, and finally return to a unit (a plane ).

It emerges sum All in all, an infinite number of units to which the narrator and the characters allude.
The main unit that organizes the narrative is divided into three stages: initial situation, adventures and final situation.

The initial situation

The novel begins "in medias res" by Fabien shows that the narrator in his usual occupation: control (p. 17). It comes from the extreme south (Tierra del Fuego) of Argentina and headed for Buenos Aires in the evening.
- a ten-minute landing in San Julian;
- entry into the quiet night.

In fact there were two other planes in the sky: that of Paraguay, a driver goes to Buenos Aires, and Pellerin, who had left Chile in the west. All three aircraft postal on a roll, and their arrival is expected before midnight (p. 27).
The narrator asks the "possible narratives" as follows:
"Three drivers, each in the back of a cover ..." (p. 27) The adventures

Three planes are launched: their maneuvers depend time - not only at night, but also and especially the weather: thunderstorms, storms, hurricanes, cyclones ...
mail landed in Chile (P. 33). The pilot, his struggle in the cyclone. The cyclone of the Pacific - note the oxymoron in the idea - never exceeds the Andes, "said River.

- Chapter VII: to form clouds, storm, by far, is launching an attack;
- Chapter XII: Fabien and radio are identified: they have reached "the point of no return," the Bermuda triangle of sky
the South: Commodoro to a storm;
North: Bahia Blanca, a western storm in less than twenty minutes, the North still
before Bahia Blanca, Trelew saw a Hurricane thirty meters seconds West and gusts of rain ;
San Antonio, and a wind storm.
Fabien "thought he was identified" (p. 113)

- Chapter XV: The crew of Patagonia is alone, without adjuvant, abandoned to the winds and rain.
- Chapter XVI: yet he manages to stabilize, and even Fabien gloated: "- It gets better! "(P. 144)
- Chapter XVII: The aircraft maintains its stability, but it is still stuck in the sky. A fuel problem posting a rebound.
- Chapter XX: two possibilities: gas exhausted or failure: in both cases, the outcome will be fatal.

The final situation

After the disappearance of mail Patagonia, eyes are turning to the other plane (while the other unit). A walking and tragic end of mail from Patagonia, contrasts that of Asuncion.
The situation arises as Part of opposite points, the betterment of the Assumption is the counterpoint to the degradation of the fate of Fabian.
- Chapter XX: tragic end Fabian and his radio: death of the hero, a hero.
- Chapter XXII: After euphoria: "This flight announced pleased by his telegrams, and a thousand other flights so happy. "(P. 181)
- Chapter XXIII: A single unit takes over and we return to the initial situation (new). E-Europe is revived in the direction of Toulouse, that is to say, for a still greater distance. For the first time, we are shown a departure airplane, as if the action had begun. It was at the Chapter X, where a shortage is created in the woman driver of that letter.

IV. Time and space

Long seen as a way to approach a text, time and space have been through the history of literary criticism, avatars considerable. Their salaries are part of the originality of a literary production and help in deciphering the message which he either.
The proof in the book as object, writing occupies a space (equivalent to the number of pages) and any reader devotes a time to pull the information commensurate with its level of understanding.
Ignoring time and space, is to deny the very existence.

A. Study of Time

A story is told. But history? And for what?
Let's outset that it is the history of driver (let us for the time of this generic word) and the history of an action (if not actions - choices that will clarify later). This story
(Or "story", we will use that word now) is part time and dilutes somewhere - real or imagined.
The study of time in Night Flight is in many ways important to the lighting of the action in the text. In the novel, we must distinguish the length of history (not more than one night, as noted in the title, for that matter) than that of the narrative. This dichotomy made at the time called a fragmented approach. We are faced with two stories, and therefore two periods. A first narrative that lasts one night, and a second story whose time - impossible to define - and the action is diluted in the first narrative, or rather depend on it.

1. Narrative time

The duration of the narrative barely more than one night.
From the analysis of the title of the book, we come to a conclusion that everything was tied around the couple of words that are quite supportive and night flight. Unravel the fabric of small title can allow easy understanding of the action that unfolds in the text. For example, believe that the main character or hero is Fabien, because firstly it is the first named, and because his death coincided with the end of the novel on the other - which Moreover, only an impression for a spirit impulsive and not what he really is.
The title therefore Night Flight no article can take action in its universality, at least in the area of control (control action). As for the word night, adding some nuances out of the ordinary action.

2. The duration of the narrative

The first narrative (cf. Sufra) starts "officially" in the evening:
"And the pilot Fabien, who brought the Far South cancers Buenos Aires, Patagonia's mail, acknowledged the approach Evening with the same signs that the waters of a port ... "(p. 17)
It ends with the departure of Europe mail to two fifteen or twenty of the night. At the end we only know that the end of the action was announced by the head of the company, River, so peremptory
"It is two hours. E Asunción land at ten o'clock ten. Take off the mail to Europe at quarter past two. " (P. 178)

- The action will stop after she?

We will soon find out, especially since River will direct that mail from Europe to take off at quarter past two.
The launch took place, and "In a minute it (the plane) crosses Buenos Aires" and "within five minutes the wireless sets have alerted the stops" (p. 188)
The duration of action of the novel to finish approximately two twenty minutes, but she survives "really" to the text.

a) backtracking

They are common in the novel. It will not make an exhaustive study whether a spectral, but give a panel lighting and a few signs to find them easily in the text. What you should immediately retain in addition to this is that these flashbacks, we still call analepsis slow the pace of the narrative.

b) The summary

The summary is another variant of the story. The narrator uses to report, or better to revive the past. His method finds its fullness in telegraph messages.

River and its past
The narrator constantly deflowers River's past. Its past is linked to that of Leroux, a man may be in the same time as being an old foreman who had worked for forty (p. 29) It is as if his life echoed that of Leroux. So he said, following the opinion of the old love: This is (...) my life is done. " (P. 30)
His past music sounds already heard (p. 76), and he remembers his "Ten years of experience and work" (p. 77) This idea, he also continues:
" so much work to achieve that! I am fifty years, fifty years I have filled my life, I am trained, I struggled, I changed the course of events ... "(p. 83)
Etc.

Robineau and her past
His past is exposed through the objects he spreads himself before Pellerin. By this he displays his intimacy (p. 59). The narrator, taking over, summarizes the state of poverty corporation in which wallows Inspector (p. 60), before giving him the floor.

c) expectations

Few in the novel, they are programming, if the projections. In this sense, they are supported by the network leader, River (p. 177) Indeed, time is secondary to River: what is important is the continuation of the action:
"It is possible we do not expect to fly the aircraft in Europe ... "(P117)
Indeed, he plans to continue and he even prophesies:
" E Asunción land at two ten. Take off the mail in Europe at quarter past two. "(p 178)
Very significantly, the anticipation in the last chapter, where the action will extend beyond the duration of the novel.
" In a minute he crosses Buenos Aires and River, which resumed its fight , wants to hear. To hear him be born, scolding and vanish, not like a great army marching in the stars. "(P. 187)
River wants to" hear the unborn ", and this contrasts with the tragic event. But the emphasis here is on the future.

B. Study of space

Every action needs a space. It can not be otherwise. In Night Flight, the space is complex and varies with the outlook. It is for us to avoid the pitfalls that its fragmentation poses, study based on its usefulness in the evolution of the action.
Before going further in the analysis, point out that there are basically two macro areas: airspace and ground space. To this is added a third space which in fact is not one really, as long as it is the product of the impression, if not that of his imagination, and we call space fantasized.
must also say that Saint-Exupery here mixes a real framework, although geographically recognizable to a fictive space, imaginary. This one creates "The illusion of realism", it makes the mythic action. For
geographical space, a map will provide concrete support.

1. Airspace

His presentation does not allow a lay perplexed aviation, since it is often compared to land or sea
The plane "went from town to town, he was the shepherd of Small Town "(pp. 17-18)
" Sometimes, after a hundred miles to the uninhabited steppes sea, it crossed a farm deep, and seemed to bring back, in a swell of grass, care of human life, then he bowed wings that ship. " (P. 18) Sometimes
altitude is given to anchor the story in reality. (P. 111)
On land, the obstacles is the war in heaven, what are the elements (pp. 23, 35, 42-43, 109-114 ...)

2. The land space

Unlike airspace, land space is characterized by fragmentation: the Company, houses, cities, countries or stopovers. The Company subdividing even turn into offices, post office and field landing.
Company, is a network in the full sense of the word. There is a relationship of interdependence between places within it, and the core is the office of River.
a quote call (p. 18), a landing field (pp. 27, 33), Hotel (pp. 59-61)
offices in the city (pp. 48, 57, 58, 59, 89, 101, 152 , 175, 182, 188)
houses (p. 93) and (p. 125)

Life and Work
Born in 1953, Amadou Kone is professor of literature at the University of Abidjan. He wrote the opera, Respect for the dead, In the flesh the throne, a new Links and novels including this one as we travel to you wrote at 18. So do we read of him until threshold of the unreal and cycle of the power of Blakoros .

Abstract
Ebinto Akounougbé was a village and studied in third grade at Bassam. In the house where he lived he became a girl who loved Monique. One night, when he had not closed its door, Monique comes to wake him close his door, and it was desirable, she slept with Ebinto. However Ebinto Muriel fell in love with a girl he had mishandled early year. But even if he kissed her, "said Muriel would prefer to limit the friendship, what she wrote in a letter in which she also announced she would pursue her studies in France. Still recovering from the blow of fate, the letter which had arrived by Monique at the same time he announced he would be the father of the child to Monique, and her father threatened to return home and if not Ebinto he would not marry the complaint. Ebinto's mother was in favor of marriage Ebinto with Monique because she said the girl loves him and that the more is old and needs help. The brilliant student he had had difficulty finding work as a foreman for a Mr Rouget near Ayame. There he lives with his wife, and not just address him speak, and act maliciously with employees. His sick wife of solitude and abandonment will abort. But given barely Ebinto him sick. He becomes aware of its injustice and ask forgiveness from his wife who will try to run away from him. He finds her in a train station one night, her back and begins to live u great happiness. But it's going to leave it Akounougbé will meet death by drowning in the river during the crossing despite the superhuman efforts of her husband. It's almost going insane.
study followed from a few excerpts
Ebinto only had two friends and Koula Bazié.
"In my dreams are entwined with reality and correcting its negative sides, And I'm not dreaming, I see life differently," said her friend Monique Ebinto. (P.19)
"Books are always the same story: a boy loves a girl and blah, blah. It only serves to sharpen the sensitivity to pain. That's why I never read, "concludes Bazié, Ebinto friend. (P.27)
"Throw my book, tell yourself that this is only miles postures in front of life, chosen yours Andre Gide quoted Ebinto (p.36)
" I I loved him and I wanted to move from friendship to that of love. She realized this and told me not to confuse the two. She quoted Hugo "(Friendship) is to be brother and sister, two souls which touch without mingling, two fingers e hand. "Love is to be two and only one. A man and a woman merge into an angel. It is heaven. "
" Often I was with Muriel always ready to declare my passion. But a gesture, a glance Muriel silence imposed on me in which I could not live; Why is this girl I tolerated it if she did not love me? Was it not to hurt me or to flatter his vanity? In any case I did not feel the soul of those who love the precious time in France and was courted by a woman for twenty years to get a response. "(P.42)
" I live with Muriel Azari, the son of a doctor. I could not hear what they were saying but they seemed to get along very well. Muriel smiled Azari. The eyes of the girl had the same brightness as those of Monique when she spoke.
"I was there like a stunned by the sight of these two young people who are perfectly happy at my expense ... But I had to give up, stay on my defeat and lose Muriel? Do not fight? But how to fight? Love does not demand physical strength or intelligence. "(P.43)
Before them, it speaks Azari:
" - The mob is in commotion, "he told Muriel that was very serious
"-that is what happens, Ebinto ? I asked her in a voice trembling slightly.
"" I am come to fetch you.
"Oh! here, here, "chuckled Azari. It is the revolt of the proletariat.
"(...) - You see, Azari, I do not hate anyone because he is rich and I do not condone that despises me because I am poor. But I warn you now: I do not wish that you turn around Muriel. "(P.44)
" It is sublime when you have the courage to fight fairly for what you love "Muriel said she Ebinto. (P.45)
"Providence," I replied, philosopher, sometimes takes perverse pleasure in torturing some poor people. Three days ago, when I saw you next to the museum, you just leave your room in hospital. Now it's time for your wife to-morrow, probably, it will be that of your son. One would think that the hospital please ... Believe me, sir, you would abandon your absurd existence, you would buy a machete and you'd go get hired in a coffee plantation. You would earn your living honestly.
- I, work in the fields! And who let Abidjan? It seems that life has stopped. "(P.60
" My only window looked behind the house on a species of tiny depression always flooded during the rainy season and I called my "lake." But what was mostly my pride, it was my small library. (...) This library contains over sixty books ... I had booked the second
(shelf) to my favorite authors and the general Hugo had a prominent place. Beside him, there was Balzac, Saint-Exupery, Mauriac and among Africans David Diop, Diop and Birago Dadié. (...) With Richard Wright, the Bronte sisters, Valle, Pierre Benoit and Morris West. There were also novels for children of Enid Blyton, the Comtesse de Segur, etc.. "(Pp.63-64) Two letters arrive in
Ebinto during holidays in his native village, Akounougbé. Muriel's letter it first opens and reads a separation of the latter to maintain their friendship and then she left to pursue his studies in France. Ebinto is afflicted. "I reread the letter several times Muriel. I tried to understand every word, I tried to enter a secret message to me was positive. But I needed to be very stupid not to understand that this message was the fatal sentence. Muriel does not like me. "(P.66) This is a
good advice for a course text commentary. To understand the message, you must read between the lines, the narrator and receiver of the letter wants to do: read multiple times, find the meaning of each word.
The second letter is that of Monica telling him she was pregnant with him, his father would return to the home, and Ebinto him if he did not marry, he would put in prison.
"My poverty, I was worth and pride myself, but I realized that day that he was sad to be poor. Was it true that "money that's life" as said Vautrin? (P.67)
Address the reader how to find an accomplice or support "That evening, I was talking to my mother. I told him everything you know, reader, of Muriel, Monique and myself.
- This girl loves you very much, "said my mother talking about Monica. She will make you happy. "(P.70)
This situation is like that in bed Andromache by Jean Racine: Orestes loves Hermione who loves Pyrrhus who loves Andromache (who still loves her late husband Hector and her son Astyanax) Monique who loves Ebinto Muriel loves who loves friendship with Ebinto.
Fate played thus Ebinto as he played heroes of antiquity.
Her mother insists that he marries the girl.
"We are the generation of the transition between two civilizations. We are the generation of sacrifice. One of my young fellow Europeans told at school that we, young blacks, we invented our problems, our woes. I replied that if he had understood Rene, there was no reason that we do not understand. This passage confirms the thesis contained in the book of Cheikh Hamidou Kane's Ambiguous Adventure where Samba Diallo was the sacrifice.
"So far I had seen men with love. The anger of being a nobody opened the door another way: the MAL . And, oddly, I remembered that Maldoror "was good during his early years" and "then realized that he was born wicked fate amazing! "The advice of Mr.
Rouget the head of the plantation where Ebinto was hired as foreman:" You see, Ebinto, life has not been easy with me. I was hard on her. I warned the moves. "(P.80) He tells him the ruin and death of his parents in decolonization.
Mr Rouget said that "happiness consists in equality of desires and strengths "(p.88) In fact he cites Fromentin. Ebinto back to Hugo and evokes "Those who live are those who struggle" (p.88)
After Monique suffer by his indifference, it was finally aborted during an illness, despite using the wife of an employee to. It was the turn of Ebinto get sick, Monique takes care of him, made him take a ride in his recovery.
Ebinto draws again from his reading: Les Miserables Hugo. He asked Monique to read him "She began to read, speak of human misery that Hugo has painted so well "(p.92)" Of course Jean Valjean is a wretch as Javert; Thenardier worse. But there are nuances of their miseries. Some try to get out of the mud in which nature has made to fight for good and achieve a certain ideal, and Jean Valjean. Others believe the ideal touch without knowing it, they are miserable by their inhuman actions: Javert example. Other cons by plunging headlong into the crime and know the misery in all its forms: the case of Thenardier. But me, what was I compared to these characters? (92)
Philosophy " The swan song "Plato in Phaedo :" When they (the swans) feel indeed come the hour of their death, the song they had before, this song is so brilliant and more frequent than ever, in their joy of being about to go away from God they are the servants. But men with their fear of death to the evil of swans: they lament, they say, death, pain Supreme inspires them this song. " "Everything is so absurd" (p.93)
In Part 3, Monique went to get the supplies decides to leave. She leaves a letter held overnight at Ebinto. "I decided to fight for my love" she said (p.97)
"Ah, marriage! It surprised me, but I came to have some idea. It seemed like a pact in which each spouse is committed to understanding each other in all circumstances and to forgive him if possible, a pact which the truth must subjugate the petty discussions, where love alone must triumph. "(P.104). This passage is an intertextual page of Life de Maupassant.
This bed and sees the love of the girl, and his true feelings would come back, he For a bike to meet the girl at the station at night alone. He returns and begins to make up for lost time, but time is already lost to them both. During leave taken they decide to spend it in the village of Ebinto. Night in the river crossing, Monique tomb of the dugout, because Ebinto had left to take a lifeline and now the storm redoubled. Saved by fishermen, Monique is dead and will be buried by his family. Ebinto is like crazy, whistling.
comparison between Javert and Thenardier (p.107) but also with Vigny. "I cried myself more despicable than Javert and Thenardier loosely on myself hard for a young girl who had committed the "crime" to love me madly. "Weeping, praying is in vain" famous idea of Vigny. (P.107)
In his attempt to win the shore with his wife Monique, in the dark of night and storm Ebinto: "Courage, once brewed, yes, another, now, as it continues "Each breaststroke cost me a superhuman effort, but it had always start another, then another." (P.122) For the superhuman effort to save themselves, see also Antoine de Saint-Exupery in Terre des hommes where Guillaumet not made, yet not to escape. Amadou Kone

Study: Love in Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert

Conclusion

This realistic novel is full of romance and romantic. Everything is concentrated in the typical character of Emma. This quest she undertook in love, as we have seen is impossible, because it led to heroin death. Is this a warning by Flaubert or a charge against the men? We have the arguments to believe even more that the cowardice of men is often questioned. Charles is too flat, down to earth, Rodolphe that scrolls at the last moment to drop Emma Le Clerc who ruin the characters are all unworthy of the love that they bring this passionate woman.
